Wedding Planning Tips
Congrats on your engagement! All the emotions. First, I hope you can enjoy this season of life because you’ll never get it back. If you’re feeling overwhelmed just thinking about planning then an obvious great first step is to hire a wedding planner. Maybe you’ve got the vendors hired and reserved for your wedding date but you’re at a “now what” phase in planning. That is also a wonderful time to hire a wedding planner whether it’s full service or simply day of. With our day of wedding planning package we provide assistance with answering planning questions all throughout your planning journey. Additionally, we give you a month by month checklist that includes every little and big detail to ensure everything is covered.
There are SO. MANY. DETAILS. when planning your wedding so I’ll keep a continuous list here with all my wedding planning tips! Most of these are learned from a mistake I’ve made in the past or a situation I’ve encountered while planning. I guess that’s how we best learn, right?
You can also find all these tips plus more on our 618 Events’ Instagram page! Happy wedding planning!
One year to one and a half years engagement is best for planning time. Any more time and you’ll likely change your mind on all the things. Any less and you risk the vendors you want not being available. Let alone stress. Which leads to the next tip.
Take a deep breath and ENJOY the engagement season of life. Never stop dating your significant other.
Wondering what’s reasonable and realistic for a wedding budget? Based on our experience $30k to $40k (estimating for 150 guests) is a great target.
Don’t forget mini magnetic pearls to help weigh your veil down.
One bartender per every 50 guests. Less lines, more sipping.
Save your bouquet with Still Flower Studio in resin- coasters, framed art, ring stand, plus more options.
Take a photo with each table during one song at the reception (think fast yet memorable for you and everyone there!)
Save the last dance for you and your new spouse.
YOU make the decisions! Not your long lost aunt or Karen’s best friend’s girl friend’s sister.
Clear direction for your guests at the ceremony and reception. Everyone hates the awkward standing around wondering what they should be doing with their hands moment.
If you’re renting chairs for your ceremony, make sure you rent enough so the rows can be even instead of just renting the bare minimum for your final guest count. Also, guests probably won’t sit right next to each other so allow some extra space for that.
If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, think of alternative unity candle ideas. Popular options are sand, tying a cord of 3 strands, and watering a house plant (my personal fav!).
Allow time for your photographer and videographer to set up their cameras before ceremony and reception! You don’t want them to miss capturing your big day!
Don’t forget these often overlooked items while planning: dietary restrictions and kids meals, guest book pens, card box, cake stand, and cake cutting set. Dessert plates, napkins, and forks are also often forgotten if the caterer is not providing the dessert.
