Samantha and Devin were such a wonderful, down to earth couple. It was such an honor to be a part of their big day, and witness them committing their lives to one another. Their wedding day was a dream come true, and it was evident that the couple thought so as well.
Samantha and Devin truly were one of the most easy-going couples I have ever worked with. They wanted their friends and family to be comfortable, happy, and excited about their day. I know that they accomplished these goals with all of the joy that was shown.
I first met Samantha at a consultation as I do most of my clients. She brought her mother Hanna along with her. They were both so easy to talk to and felt so comfortable to be around. I could instantly tell that they were genuine people looking for someone to help tie all of their details together. They had done a great job planning everything, and wanted someone to oversee the big day. They desired for it to be a smooth, relaxed wedding day. And that is exactly what we accomplished together.
Samantha chose to get married at Hudson Farm’s in Urbana. This venue was the perfect location for this couple. It truly embodied their personalities and was the perfect addition to their love. Hudson Farm’s provides a beautiful barn for the ceremony and a separate space for the reception. It sits on a gorgeous piece of property, perfect for all of their photo needs.
The morning of the wedding I was responsible for doing the majority of the set up. Hudson Farm’s is a great venue if you are looking for a one stop shop. They provide so much decor that you are able to use and make it so easy to find. Samantha picked out so many great pieces and represented her personality through the decor.
Prior to the ceremony, Samantha and her bridesmaids got ready at Hudson Farm’s. They have a spacious house that they provide for bridal party usage during the wedding day. They were able to have a slow morning just enjoying each other’s company. Samantha got into her dress with the help of her mom. She looked absolutely stunning and her wedding dress fit her like a glove. She then made her way to do a first look with her dad. Samantha decided to do her first looks at the ceremony site. It was precious seeing her show her dad her dress and how beautiful of a bride she was. After Samantha did a first look with her dad, we got Devin ready to do his first look. The Bride and Groom’s first look was so lovely. They also exchanged their wedding day gifts to one another at this time.
Bridal party photos followed the first look and were able to all be completed prior to the ceremony. This is always so beneficial to guests and the bride and groom. This way the cocktail hour can be shorter and the couple is able to join for a bit. We moved the bridal party back into the house while guests arrived and prepared for the ceremony.
The ceremony was such a special time for the couple and all of their guests. They did a wine box ceremony together which was so special. The couple placed a bottle of wine in a box and locked it up. On their one year anniversary they will unlock it and share the wine together. This is such a unique unity ceremony and a special touch I loved on their day!
After the ceremony, they had family photos while the rest of the guests moved to cocktail hour. When it came time for bridal party intros, they had the whole party introduced together. This is a new, fun way to have them come out in a group. For the bride and groom, we did a grand barn door entrance. This was a fun way to elevate their introduction by opening the grand doors right before they entered the space.
We moved right into Samantha and Devin’s cake cutting and giving a speech to their guests. This was very special for them to address everyone and thank all of them for supporting their wedding. Toasts followed their speech and then dinner was served. They had a delicious buffet that their guests loved. Samantha had tables dismissed by a song card on their table. When they heard it playing, it was time for them to go to the buffet line. How fun! Incorporating a unique element into your wedding day is one of our favorite parts because it adds personality to the day. When doing something unique that may not be obvious to guests, be sure to have the DJ make clear announcements so people know what to expect!
After dinner, the ice cream truck opened up. This was the most darling camper turned into an ice cream stand. They were such a wonderful vendor to work with, and it was such a fun addition to the evening. I would highly recommend adding a fun surprise for your guests.
Samantha and Devin did their first dance, and we had all of the guests circle around them on the dance floor. Following, they did their dances with their parents. Then we got the party started with open dancing. Nate was a great DJ and had the most incredible song choices. It was evident that everyone was having a great time and enjoying themselves. He even brought light up foam sticks for the guest to dance with. So cool!
Samantha and Devin’s wedding was such a special day. They were so loved by their family and everything went so smoothly! The weather was perfect, and it couldn’t have been a better day. I wish them all of the best in their future together. Cheers to the happy couple!!!
